The San Antonio sparkles

As you head south towards Makarska along what I'd like to call the Split-Podstrana Riviera, there are a a number of great little boutique hotels smack on the beach or within just a few meters. One of the real gems out here is the San Antonio, a four star hotel with just 21 rooms.

In addition to its own restaurant, the San Antonio has a terrific roof top swimming pool and fitness center/spa complete with a bar and lounge. At night, the views out to Brac Island are amazing and the pool, rimmed with soft light against the darkness is like a magic pool floating in space.

The rooms--mostly doubles--are light, bright and airy and most of them are south facing to the sea which means you get a glorious sun up to sundown view.

The San Antonio is a real find and highly recommended. If the hotel is booked, right next door is the 12 room Villa San Antonio--and not to worry, as a guest of the Villa you can use all the facilities of the hotel for free!

Radisson Blu Resort, Split - www.thehotelsofsplit.com

I just visited The Radisson Blu Split Resort, which is set to open in April in Split, and it will be the most spectacular hotel in the region (check out all the hotels in Split at www.thehotelsofsplit.com)! With its glorious soaring entrance, full ocean views from 80% of the 246 rooms (all the rooms have at least a partial ocean view), extensive use of glass and subtle colors and lighting, the hotel is unlike any in Split. But what really sets it apart is a sensational location--it's the only hotel in Split with a real beachfront. Its international spa and three restaurants all connecting to a wooden-decked 1000 sq. meter outdoor dining terrace overlooking the sea are just more reasons why this 4 star property will help put Split on the map as a city-break/conference center as well as the fabulous leisure destination it has always been. Probably the best in Croatia!
